Just Breathe

All I need is a pen and a page / a mike and a stage
All I want is love and life / sex and strife
All I have is words and beats / my crew and these streets
All I give is cyncism and sarcasm / lyrical orgasms
I am whoever you see
And when I’m not, I am free
We’ve got to change our ways / or these are the end days
We’ve got to work together / or our world is gone forever
We’ve got to laugh and cry / never stop asking why
We’ve got to do it now / the only question is how
We are whatever we wish
So why are we so childish?
Your time to rise is nigh / raise those hands up high
Your time for apathy is past / build a future that will last
Your time to create approaches / ignore these false coaches
Your time, our time to rule / to bring about a new cool
Breathe in the new day
Breathe out regrets and sadness
Breathe in what I say
Breathe out hate and madness

Breathe In, and Hold…..

Breathe out selfishness and insecurity
Breathe In cooperation and harmony
Breathe out lies and deceit
Breathe in and taste the air so sweet

Breathe In

Breathe Out

The lesson (part two) by the roots – freestyle write

something i like to do is listen to instrumentals and write/rap to them
here's a little example

Oh hell, hell yea here we go, start to flow
Gonna drop it like dro when the cops at the window
then I’m away like usain bolt
Lighting out the door, never catch this colt
45 in my right, blunt in my left
and now ya’ll can feel this heft
weight of my rhymes like a gun in yo hand
light as a feather, heavier than a mountain of sand

its my duty to drop these rhymes over beats
duty to rep my hometown streets!
Murray, booth, belleview, newberry
My east side streets ain’t even scary
Now go west up center or north avenue
These are the places where life gets askew
In my goddam segregated ass birthplace
Money and race are ingrained in space
River between the whites and the blacks
one in mansions, one in stacks
but people die the same, blacks and whites
so you gotta watch your back under city lights

my heart gets tore up in these city nights
cuz I know that this shit just ain’t right
but what could I do, I was just a young fool
goin wild, livin large, skippin school
smoking Buddha, getting ruddah, thinking I was cool
now all I see is a lotta fun times
lackin content, lackin rhymes
shoulda been honin my craft not doing crimes
but I guess im just a product of my city
spoiled little white boy suckling on daddy’s titty
but watch out now, that boy is history
what is to come is still a mystery
but know one day soon everybody gonna listen to me

del the funkee homosapien - inspiration

DEL . May 8th. A very good day.

Sittin on the stoop, shootin the shit
Starin at ass walk by that I’ll never hit
We chill here then up and go
Heat out from the crib, hit the road
Strollin down to the saloon
Gonna see a funkee homosapien at the high noon
But del don’t hit the stage till past midnight
Its all good, the openers were pretty tight
First came serendipitous shit alright
The bucou one set the party off right
Jumpin and shakin and funkin ass movin
DJ zac rocked the house to P-funk’s groovin
While he was the one keeping the discs spinnin
We in the crowd were the ones winnin
But soon enough the day came to a close
And we all were funkier than our shoe soles
Del himself stepped to the microphone
Rocked us so hard, we been owned
Rocked the new day like a champion
The funky doctor kept the hits runnin
And A-plus at his side was surely stuntin
Hieroglyphics crew will always be bumpin
After dark, there is no frontin
So del rocked the crowd so well
And everybody was feelin real swell
Specially those smokin on the herb
Sticky icky green put your brain on the curb
Haul it to the sky when del drops a rhyme
That clint eastwood dope, right on time
To blast the crowd out till the speakers die
Then del said Peace and we said Bye.
Walked home and smoked a big fat blunt
Swung on the swings at a favorite haunt
Perfect place for a midnight jaunt
Maybe sit down and pen this joint
Keep the rhymes on beat, the beats on point
Roll it up, light it up, smoke the meaning
Of this night that’s got me day dreamin
For such a show I had been fiendin
Gotta get my hiphop fix, get me grinning
Love when they get that quality spinnin
and over it the heat they spittin
del and a-plus laid it down
while zach Hendrix provided the tasty sound
best show I’ve seen in a while
that’s why on my face is a smile.

Mother's Day

Here's a little story for mother's day, followed up some lyrical love.

Last night at the Del show, Bukue One (the opening act) asked all the Momma’s boys in the house to represent. I raised my hand, because it is true. Mom there’s no one in the world I love more than you.

Oh momma, you know I act a fool

Always trying to stunt and act cool

Screwing off, coasting through school

But now its time for a gear shift

Time to give my self a big lift

To you I’ll make my life a gift

Achieve, succeed, exceed potential

Keep my nose clean, act presidential

Obama is federal, I’ll rock the residential

But both of us reppin change and hope

Rescuing our nations from the end of a rope

Moving on from the past to lyrical dope

Moving my life from negative to positive

Cuz that’s the only way to live

A good long life, the only gift I truly have to give

New Growth

All things in their time must end.

The leaves fall slow but soon comes snow

And eventually that too does go

Melts away into the spring

Rebirth, new fresh and green

Soon enough that life grows strong

Causes the land to burst into song

Positive growth all summer long

In the spring new shoots arise

Hidden during winter’s icy reign

Casting off the frozen stain

Bringing forth, through the pain

Plants get stronger, reaching and growing

Now that it has finally stopped snowing

Still weathering summer showers

But battered we drink deep, resilient flowers

Magnolia blooming, blossoms gleaming

Sun and rain fuel this dreaming

Reaching for the skies and the stars above

No more cries, time for love

So sit back and soak up the sun

Trust in me, your fresh grown son.
